Well thank you for the reply. I was afraid of that! NaturallySpeaking will accept hex ASCII code etc. as scripting commands. I’ll definitely give it a try.
I assume this is the same issue for the new Tobii Gaming 5 and its software? How about the built-in Windows 10 eye tracking in regards to supporting emulated key inputs?

One last question if I may? What is the executable or DLL for the Tobii Gaming eye tracking application? The reason why I’m asking is when I create scripts in NaturallySpeaking it looks for the executable to attach the script to. I looked for it while creating my scripts and NaturallySpeaking didn’t seem to “see” the executable. But perhaps it is me who is not seeing or using the correct executable or DLL. Please advise…

Thank you Grant for the help. So many possibilities with Tobii Gaming!

I find this part of your answer interesting. Perhaps you can flesh this out for me. I’m disabled and using Nuance DPI 15.3 NaturallySpeaking. Are you saying that the Tobii executable is not trackable for a program like Naturally DPI 15.3? I need to be able to do keypresses by voice. In other words, none of the Tobii Gaming 4 software commands will be available in the memory buffer? Because sometimes I think NaturallySpeaking does not see the Tobii keyboard commands in the scripts I’ve made even though I’m using advanced scripting. what is the Tobii Gaming executable? Or is it a DLL?

“Hi @patrick2020 and thanks for your query. Unfortunately the Tobii software does not currently support emulated key inputs and will only work with physically pressed keyboard strokes. One possible workaround is that you can have the mouse cursor move by a specific amount (larger than the buffer specified in the Tobii settings) every 500ms and see if that works?”

    Thank you, JZ

I’m pretty sure Project Iris software has been discontinued or dead. The software hasn’t been updated since January 2017.
It’s a shame the software had such promise. The forums are pretty much dead as well. No more tech support or question replies.
Now all I bought is orphan ware.

    CHANGELOG
    2017-01-15 New device supported

IRIS is fully compatible with the newest tobii 4C(*) eye tracker.

Hello, and thank you for trying to help. I was able to try some of the tips you provided in the previous exchanges over the Easter weekend. If I hook my Tobii 4C directly to the USB port on my Asrock H 170 Pro4 Intel-based motherboard 3.0 USB port and then use the eyetracker, everything seems to perform properly. And as you suggested, I am able to exit the Tobii 2.2 software and the IR lights remain off. Furthermore, I hooked up a 10 ft. 3.0 USB extension cable to the eyetracker and directly to the USB port and again I was able to use the eyetracker and shut down the software and my computer without the IR lights remaining on.

For further testing I plugged the 4C back into my powered Pluggable USB port as before and repeated using the eyetracker and software. Just as before, when I shut down my PC for the night, just the two center IR lights on the eyetracker remain lit. The IR lights on either end of the eyetracker are off. I was afraid to downgrade the software and firmware to an earlier version because the 4C works fine other than the IR lights remaining on. I’ll probably live with it until the next software/firmware upgrade see if that fixes it. You guys are pretty efficient in providing updates to the firmware and software. Unfortunately there are no new software drivers for the USB ports or my Asrock motherboard. I will try turning off power management in the USB hub under devices and Windows 10 and see what that will do. I’m puzzled by the powered Pluggable USB multi-port adapter because originally the 4C required a specifically powered USB port. I’m a relatively early adopter of the 4C and had no previous problems with the power USB port.

    Thanks, Joseph

I doubt is the chipset drivers because I did not have this problem with any of the previous software updates from Tobii. I unplugged and reseated everything. I have a JPEG image of the IR lights but I can’t seem to upload them or embed them into this message. Is there any way I can upload an image to the website or maybe tech support?

    Thanks, Joseph

I’m not sure if the problem occurs if connected directly to the without USB hub. I have it plug directly into the Pluggable powered USB adapter. It’s a little bit too far away to get to the back of my PC at the moment to plug it in directly to its USB ports. If I turn the tracker off with the system tray Tobii icon, it’s only the center six LED lights that remain on. The IR LED lights on either end turn themselves off properly. The Tobii USB cable is really quite short. I’ll double check and get back to you.

    Thanks, Joseph

I can’t add much to this discussion but I too have the disconnect sound during boot up. I have a Samsung SSD as well. However, I only have the disconnect sound during boot up. But Tobii 4C continues to function and work properly. I don’t have Tobii turned on at boot up, I just click it manually down by the clock and start it with a slider in the software from there. I noticed this problem just after the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. I also have the Tobii 4C plugged into a Pluggable powered USB hub.

    It’s just my 2 cents worth… jzlako

This is a great feature. Changing from the default white color to any of the other colors is really helpful keeping track of the gaze trace circle. The only downside is you have to run a second app. This feature should be built into the Tobii main eye tracking program. That way you know he would have to run one app.

Thank you for the tip, jzlako

Interesting does the streaming gaze desktop overlay constantly stream your game? I don’t want to stream anything I just wanted change the color of the circle. Nor do I want to record it. I just want to simply change the color.

Thank you for the quick reply. I only want to be able to turn the software on and off
down by the clock in the system tray, I’m just looking to slide the on/off slider
from disabled to enabled. I’m using voice recognition because I’m disabled
and I’d like to be able just to turn the software on by a quick voice macro.
Otherwise, I have to use the mouse and drag the slider to the on position
in the Tobii eye tracking software.

    Thank you, jzlako
