In order to generate a heatmap of gaze data off-line, it’s necessary only to store the fixation coordinates, which are derived from gaze data. Therefore, this should not break the license agreement which states only that raw gaze data can not be saved. Can you please comment.

You don’t need to store data to generate heatmaps or other visualizations because you can render them in real-time.

A new update is available that tracks and visualizes dwell time. Take a look at the tutorial video on youtube:

I was able to overcome this problem by disconnecting my additional displays and just leaving the single main monitor plugged in. I ran my calibration and created a profile this way. Then I reconnected my additional monitors and my eye tracker works.

No I haven’t tried moving the screens around or swapping their virtual location. I don’t see why that would help though. I did try uninstalling the Tobii software and reinstalling but was never prompted for the screen number. So I guess the uninstall does not remove windows registry settings.

I double checked and this did not make a difference. I am using Win10 and regardless of which of my two displays is set to the “Make this my main display”, the Tobii calibration screen always appears on the same monitor. It seems to be more concerned about how the displays are physically connected (which I can’t change), then this software setting. BUT this was not the case earlier! I recently upgraded my windows 10 to the very latest version 1607 Build 14393.10. So, maybe there’s a bug here.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to tell the eyex display setup which one of my monitors to use. In the past I believe there was a button that let you choose which of my multi monitor setups the tracker is mounted to. Now it just lets me adjust the width of the tracker’s physical dimensions. What am I missing?

    Hi,

That’s not true. It is trivial to save data from the EyeX, however the SDK license agreement prohibits it. There is no implementation that prevents saving data. Are you sure you even know what you’re talking about? There was in fact an email sent out mentioning that this license clause may change. I may need to go dig it up.

Without being able to save data, we can not even do a comparative study between the EyeX and other eye trackers to validate any of your accuracy and precision claims Tobii makes about the EyeX.

Furthermore, I specifically stated that I am working with a PCEYEGO not an EyeX. Perhaps you miss understood that part of my message? I am using the EyeX driver to communicate with the PCEyeGo and was inquiring if I can save the PCEYEGO’s data in spite of that.

    Thanks for your attention!

    Hi,

I have a user with a PCEyeGO who downloaded my software that is designed to work with EyeX. We discovered that if he has the eyex driver installed, everything works with the PCEyeGO. However, my software does not allow saving eyemovement data, as per the license agreement. So, I’m wondering what if anything can be done about this? Does the license agreement apply to the driver or to the hardware? I also heard that Tobii was planning to relax this restriction.

    Thanks!

    Open the source code!

Just wanted to add that it takes me less time to type in a 4 pin code than use Windows Hello. First it takes a while for the eyex to initialize, and then some more time to detect my face. It’s easier to type a code.

Everything seems to be working properly now… It sorted itself out after a few restarts and re-installs. Works very well in fact. Thanks for replying!

txGetStateAsync works, but txGetState does not.
