Does the Tobii EyeX really uses/need the bandwidth of USB 3.0?
The connector that plugs into Tobii EyeX is only Mini-B jack, while another side of the cable is normal USB 3.0 (blue color)
As far as I know, Mini-B connector DOES NOT support USB 3.0. (please correct if I am wrong)
Then, what is the point of requiring USB 3.0 when the connector and cable itself does not support the USB 3.0?27/05/2014 at 08:30 #1034
Yes, the Tobii EyeX is a 100 % USB 3.0 device and not backward compatible as e.g. some hard drives etc.
When looking at the cable, you will see it’s way thicker than a USB 2.0 cable and it’s called a 10 P USB 3.0 cable.

Is this cable custom made or can e.g. different lengths obtained from somewhere. In future slightly larger micro USB3 could be better option? Jussi12/06/2014 at 08:56 #1158
it’s not a custom made cable at all, just google for USB 3.0 10 P.

Can I buy a replacement cable direct from Tobii? Or do you know any suppliers in the UK? It seems to be a very uncommon/non-standard cable. Many thanks,

Hi, I did a google and amazon search for 10 P USB 3.0 cable and could not find anything. Can someone post a link to where we can purchase such a cable (preferably a short cable, like 3 inches).27/12/2014 at 17:26 #2277Joshua HaworthParticipant
I found one on newegg.. waiting on delivery, but looks right from the description. this is 12″, though, not quite as short as you say you’d like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2JX1MH2399&cm_re=USB_3.0_Mini_10_Pin_Male-_-9SIA2JX1MH2399-_-Product Also, they have a no cable length adapter http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1HE0YP1203&cm_re=USB_3.0_Mini_10_Pin_Male-_-0N6-003U-000R2-_-Product that might work out for you?03/01/2015 at 01:27 #2303
sorry for the late reply.
As we have seen quality and performance of cables, varying quite a lot, we unfortunately cannot recommend to buy random cables.
Currently we also don’t have any tested or supported cable available on any web-shops.
If you need a new cable, please contact our support and they will be happy to help you, however, only the standard length is available.
