Hi,
I bought the eye tracker 4C and I would like to know if it is possible to extract heatmap from the provided software or if I have to develop it ?
Thank you in advance.Best regards

If however, you have an agreement with Tobii to use the Tobii Pro SDK with the C4, then you may have better luck as a number of third party software packages are available online (I saw a few from google) which take a variety of input data such as tracking data, GPS, etc and from there create heatmaps.
One such example I found for you is available @ https://github.com/sethoscope/heatmap

Thanks!
11/11/2017 at 18:39 #7568Grant [Tobii]KeymasterHi @thibaut, there is certainly no issue hardware wise in using the 4C for the creation of heat maps.
The matter is related to the fact that heatmaps necessarily require storage of gaze data which for the Tobii Tracker 4C requires the Pro SDK licence as long term storage of gaze data is prohibited by the standard user licence agreement.
I hope this clear things up, please let me know of any further questions.

14/11/2017 at 14:24 #7583Grant [Tobii]KeymasterHi @thibaut, please kindly get in touch with the Tobii Pro SDK licencing team directly
[email protected] who will be able to provide you a quote in line with your circumstances.08/12/2017 at 16:00 #7670AnneParticipantHi @Grant!
So I was having the same issue and now I can’t get in touch with the licensing team because the email address you said doesn’t seem to be correct…
Can you help me?
Thanks!
09/12/2017 at 15:37 #7672Grant [Tobii]KeymasterHi @annep, please PM me with your email address and request and I will be sure to pass it along to the right department.. Thanks.
12/12/2017 at 20:18 #7686Edward RyklinParticipantYou don’t need to store data to generate heatmaps or other visualizations because you can render them in real-time.
13/12/2017 at 02:51 #7687Edward RyklinParticipantIn order to generate a heatmap of gaze data off-line, it’s necessary only to store the fixation coordinates, which are derived from gaze data. Therefore, this should not break the license agreement which states only that raw gaze data can not be saved. Can you please comment.
13/12/2017 at 12:08 #7688Alex [Tobii]ParticipantHi!
3.6 Not for Analytical Use. Unless Licensee enters into a
separate agreement with Tobii, the SDK may not be used to
develop and distribute software that (a) store Tobii Data; or (b)
transfer Tobii Data to another computing device or network; in
both cases where the intent is to use or make it possible to use
Tobii Data to analyze, record, visualize or interpret behavior or
attention (“Analytical Use”). To clarify; storing, using or
transferring Tobii Data for the sole purpose of implementing
software that uses Tobii Data for Gaze Interaction Use does not
constitute Analytical Use.13/12/2017 at 13:28 #7689AnneParticipantHi @Alex
So what you’re saying is that it’s possible to do it without breaking licensing?
13/12/2017 at 13:38 #7690Alex [Tobii]ParticipantHi!
If you want to develop software that generates gaze heatmaps and uses Tobii Eye Tracker 4C, you would need to get a special Tobii Pro SDK licence. You can contact Tobii Pro at https://www.tobiipro.com/contact/ or [email protected]
