Can't install core software

Well Lets just say the first experience with my 4C is not great. I have plugged my 4C and run “Tobii Eye Tracking Core Software 2.7.0 (with Tobii Interaction Engine 1.18.0)”. I just get the message “Something went wrong We’re sorry, we couldn’t install.” Now the 4C does show up in the device manager as “EyeChip” and I am running Windows 10. I thought it may have been because I was using an extension cable, so I plugged the 4c in several USB 2.0 and 3.0 just to see if that made a difference and no luck. All my drivers are correctly installed and up to date. So i have no idea what to do from this point.

sorry, this will not answer your problem and i’m not a dev at all,
BUT i can’t find anyone else having the same problem with the latest software version.

aaand i can’t find older versions of the software to test :/

I’m on a Windows 10 (used for gaming and video creation / streaming) PC, so yes there’s a lot of stuff installed and probably not removed completley. Next refresh is planned after the Creators Update is really done and works without breaking everyones PCs 😉

Tried to install it using:

– start in Safe Mode
– disabled Kasperksy Internet Security
– Windows 8 compatibility mode (it started! but never finished and using ~20% CPU)
– Win 7 comp. mode. It told me i need .NET in a window that had bugged out fonts
– tried to repair .NET with Microsofts NetFxRepairTool, i ran some stuff, asked me alot and “couldn’t fix my problem”
– successfully validated my .NET install with https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/astebner/2008/10/13/net-framework-setup-verification-tool-users-guide/
no problems found, no idea what MS tool previously was doing :/
– uninstalled Visual C++ 2015 x86 and x64, tried to run the tobii installer
– reinstalled both runtimes, tried to run the tobii installer

please Tobii guys. Give us an error code or a log file we can work with. It’s the first software of 2017 i’m not able to work with; and i work with Software using Installer that look like Win 95.

i was able to install Infinite Screen Extension and the GameHub wihtout problems.

Same problem on my old laptop. Not even an AV installed on there

I can’t install it on my fileserver because it won’t even open on there. (The device, path or file can not accessed. Something about my rights to access the element.) I’m the only non-microsoft-account admin on the machine and installed everything from that exact drive and folder…

OMG … i was able to fix it.

Chrome destroys the downloaded file. Without changing the filesize.

i downloaded the file again from my 2 other PCs (both with Chrome)

then i tried downloading it with Edge and Firefox.

I#M not sure it was the firefox downloaded file, but i’m like 90% sure.

and it works!

I can confirm that chrome does indeed break some downloads. Although I have tried downloading using Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Internet Explorer and still run into the same issue.

Another thing to note is that the installation file did work on my Surface 4 running windows 10 but will not work on my desktop running windows 10. I have tried usb 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1. My issue seems to come from the core software installation. I also used the surface 4 to update the tobii 4c firmware to see if that helped and sadly it did not.

I found a log for the installation and it appears to be having a registry problem? does anyone know how to fix this? I will be pasting this below.

Ok so Update, Tobii support could not help me. Though I found out that installing the windows creative update magically fixed my software installation issue. Now the new issue I am having is the tobii core software does not detect the tobii eye tracker. it shows up as eyechip in device manager and i have tried plugging it directly in every usb port in my computer with no luck.

trying to install Tobii Eye X device, I´ve downloaded the tobbi eye tracker core soft (version 2.13 x86 as it´s the only available for download, I have windows 10 home single language x64 OS) but I´m not able to finish the installation, an error windows appears saying Sorry not able to install and the “help” button is not letting me know what it´s happening.

Can you help me on this, sharing other core soft version exe files with me to find one that works or for x64 systems? I have c++ redistributable 2010 to 2015 installed on my computer, not sure how to get a log file to share with you for support.
This is very frustrating….

Hi @airmuze, sorry to hear about your issues. It sounds like the installer program may be corrupted, I would advise downloading again from our website @ https://gaming.tobii.com/getstarted/ Failing that, make sure you are launching the installer with Administrator rights. It would also be helpful to get a screenshot if possible please.

Also make sure that you have Windows 10 fully updated prior to installation.

I´ve donwloaded for that link (latest version 2.13 x86, not able to donwload previous versions or for 64 bits OS system). My Win10 Home is updated, I check it as I read something regarding creative update (NET frame and c++ redistributables version, everything installed on my pc)
I run the installation as admin as well but still same error

is there any other file version for eyex working on win 10 home version, 64bits? thanks
